About

The objective of this website is to provide future and present retirees with information and support to not only survive retirement, but to make this second part of life a journey where you can flourish. It won’t always be easy; in fact, it may become harder as time moves on. However, knowing what to expect, how to prepare for it and living your life to the fullest, can make this a memorable journey. One where you can leave a legacy for people to remember you by – not for the wealth you leave behind but for the person you are.

By profession and heart, I am a financial planner. In my daily activities I assist clients with investment/retirement/financial/ estate and lifestyle planning. Most of what I do daily has to do with figures and hard facts.

I have been doing this since 1997 when I entered the industry after a career in engineering and after running my own businesses for some years. Today I still have clients who became clients shortly after I entered the industry. Many of my clients have been with me for more than 15 years and some for more than 20 years.

Over the years I have witnessed many successes and some failures that my clients endured. There was heartache and joy. Babies were born and the elderly and sick passed away. The one constant however is that everyone who has retired or who is within 5 years of retirement experience some type of challenge. Some of these are financial challenges but they change to psychological challenges the closer one gets to retirement mainly caused by this major transition in life. I am no indifferent.

I was born in 1959 and fall slap bang in the middle of the “baby boomer” generation. I (we?) have difficulty with today’s generations. Baby boomers like structure, discipline, planning and to be in control of their lives and they challenge the status quo and make things happen. I expect that most followers of this site will be boomers. With my planned retirement (semi-retirement?) at the end of 2029, I started feeling some of the retirement challenges and anxiety knocking on my door. I can now relate to the anxiety and angst that my clients feel. I’m a boomer…my challenge is how do I handle this?

I started researching the challenges and solutions to retirement planning and management some 2 years ago and I recently completed my studies to be accredited as a Certified Professional Retirement Coach (CPRC).

My idea is to share what I have experienced and what I have learnt over the years with my fellow soon-to-be retirees and current retirees. Let’s do this together. Let’s support each other. Let’s thrive. I invite you to

RETIRE-WITH-ME.
